True Grit Wetwheels Challenge – Sunday 26 April 2026
Adult Challenge Overview
The True Grit Wetwheels Challenge is a 5KM running race with obstacles, taking runners on a challenging adventure through the Ronez Quarry site on Jersey’s rugged north coast.
Runners will start and finish the race at the top of Ronez Quarry, with awesome panoramic views of the north coast of Jersey. The course then takes runners down 30 metres below sea level to the pit of the quarry, whilst navigating the enormous Ronez machinery and obstacles before heading back up the challenging climb to reach the finish line!
The obstacles are getting bigger and better for 2026 so be prepared to climb, crawl and carry. There will also be a run-only route for those who want to stick to the ground.
Teams can take part in the obstacle Team category, which is made up of 3 team members who MUST finish together.
The Pit is currently at 30 metres below sea level and may get as low at 36 metres below sea level by race day – the course may change with the quarry depth, so runners should be prepared for a maximum distance of 5KM with a total elevation of 130m!
Youth Challenge Overview
In 2024 we introduced a short obstacle course (approx 2K) and a long obstacle course (approx 4K) for Youth Challengers to take on. The short course is open to children in Year 4+ and the long course is open to children in Year 6+.

Obstacle Solo (16+): Early Bird Pricing £45

Youth Challenge – Short Obstacle Course (Year 4+): Early Bird Pricing £15
Youth Challenge – Long Obstacle Course (Year 6+): Early Bird Pricing £15
Individuals/Solos: Take on the challenge solo and get the chance to win the individual winners cup!
Teams of 3: Teams will be put into waves with each other and they must cross the finish line together. Run and climb together whilst also helping others tackle the obstacles. The ethos of our event is to get everyone across the finish line.
Challenge Pack Collection
All runners will have to collect their race packs on Friday 24 April from 12:30 – 14:30 from Liberty Wharf, St Helier. Further details will be sent to all registered participants. If you are unable to make the race pack collection, please email our team on enquiries@3d-events.co.uk
Challenge Day Kit Requirements
Please note that as the route is located in Ronez Quarry runners will be running on loose gravel, therefore we strongly recommend wearing trail shoes with as much grip as possible.
We strongly suggest the following kit/equipment for race day:
- Race Day Event T-shirt (given out at Race Pack Collection, all participants must wear on race day)
- Trail shoes with lots of grip
- Running shorts / leggings
- Gloves (fingerless ones are perfect)
- Warm clothes to throw on after the event
- Own water (all runners must bring their own hydration)
