Take on Jersey’s most exciting, gritty and fun-filled obstacle adventure. The True Grit Wetwheels Challenge takes you deep into Ronez Quarry for an obstacle adventure like no other – packed with climbs, crawls, carries, and camaraderie, all in support of Wetwheels Jersey.
The Course
Set in Ronez Quarry, the course takes challengers through rugged terrain, loose gravel, and towering quarry machinery. You’ll face a series of obstacles including climbing walls, crawling tunnels, sandbag carries, muddy scrambles, and more.
Adult Challenge Overview
Adults can choose from two distances:
• 16 Obstacles: Explore the top portion of the quarry.
• 26 Obstacles: Head below sea level into the quarry pit for the full adventure.
Expect mud, grit, and plenty of fun along the way. Obstacles are bigger and better for 2026, so be ready to get hands-on!
Team & Solo Adult Categories
- Obstacle Solo (16+): Choose between 16 or 26 obstacles and take on the course yourself.
- Obstacle Team of 3 (16+): Tackle all 26 obstacles together! Teams must cross the finish line together, and teamwork and encouragement are key!
Quarry Elite
Take on the ultimate challenge and be in with the chance to be crowned Quarry Champion!
Challengers must complete every obstacles, whilst they race against the clock for the fastest time. The first male and female challengers across the finish line will be named the 2026 Quarry Champions.
Youth Challenge Overview
Back by popular demand, our Youth Challenge gives young adventurers a chance to test their true grit too!
- Short Obstacle Course (12 Obstacles): Open to children in Year 4+
- Long Obstacle Course (16 Obstacles): Open to children in Year 6+
It’s a fun, safe, and exciting way for kids to experience the thrill of the Challenge – with plenty of cheering from the quarry walls.
Family Team
Bring the whole family along for 16 obstacles and an unforgettable day of teamwork and adventure! Perfect for parents and children who want to tackle the course together, supporting one another every step of the way.
Start Times
Challengers will be set off in 10-minute intervals to keep the course flowing safely:
- 09:30 – Quarry Elite (All challengers start together)
- 10:00 – Youth Challenge
- 11:00 – Adult Challenge
Race Pack Collection
All participants must collect their race packs on Friday 24 April 2026, between 12:30 – 14:30 at Liberty Wharf, St Helier.
What to Bring / Kit Recommendations
Ronez Quarry terrain is rocky and uneven, so the right kit makes all the difference.
We recommend:
- Trail running shoes with excellent grip
- Event T-shirt (provided at pack collection – must be worn on race day)
- Running shorts or leggings
- Fingerless gloves for grip and comfort
- Warm clothing to change into post-race
- Your own water/hydration (there will be refill points)

How does this event support Wetwheels Jersey?
All funds raised go directly to Wetwheels Jersey, helping disabled people experience the thrill of being on the water aboard fully accessible powerboats.
When and where is the event?
Sunday 26 April 2026 at Ronez Quarry, St John, Jersey.
How long is the course?
The adult route is approximately 5KM, with about 130m elevation gain. The Youth Challenge features 2KM and 4KM courses.
Can I take part on my own or in a team?
Either! You can register solo or as part of a team of three. Team members must stay together and finish together.
What age do I need to be?
Adult Challenge: 16+
Youth Challenge: Year 4 and above (depending on distance).
Is the course suitable for beginners?
Absolutely! It’s designed for all abilities , grit and determination matter more than speed. This is an untimed challenge, focused on teamwork and determination
Will there be refreshments?
Yes — food and drink caterers will be available on-site. Please bring your own refillable bottle to stay hydrated.
Where can I park?
Limited parking will be available nearby. Full details will be sent to participants closer to the event date.
Can spectators come?
Yes! We love supporters. There are safe, accessible viewing areas near the start and finish lines.
